The name Greek language Hektor is probably derived from the Greek language ekhein, meaning "to check", "restrain". In Scotland, the name Hector, is sometimes an Anglicised form of the Scottish Gaelic Eachann. In Scotland, Heckie is a pet form of Hector; in Scotland a feminine form of Hector is Hectorina.[1]
